Direct support

When help cannot wait

Use direct emergency or crisis support. This website is not an emergency service and does not monitor enquiries.

United States

Call 911 for a life-threatening emergency. For suicide or emotional crisis support, call or text 988, or use the official 988 Lifeline website. Source: 988 Lifeline — Support for young people in the US

United Kingdom

For immediate danger, call 999 or go to A&E. In England, call 111 and choose the mental health option for urgent support. For listening support, Samaritans can be reached on 116 123 in the UK and Ireland. Source: NHS — Urgent mental health help in England. Source: Samaritans — Contact and support.

Elsewhere

Use the local emergency number or nearest emergency department. Ask a local health service for the appropriate crisis pathway. The country list in this preview is not a worldwide crisis directory.

Supporting someone

Where it is safe, help them connect with a trusted person or professional and follow the advice of emergency or crisis staff. Do not promise to keep an immediate safety threat secret.
